Did You Know You Need a Car Seat Protector for Your Baby?

Ok, so you’re baby’s head isn’t going to fall off if you don’t have a car seat protector for your baby. But let me tell you why you need one.

I needed one too. Though I was completely oblivious at first. I think all new parents are clueless about being parents. It’s not our fault. Nothing anyone can ever tell you truly prepares you for parenthood.

For example, I went out and bought a ton of really cute baby shoes. Did I need those shoes? Well, no I didn’t. Half the time the baby kicked them off while we were out somewhere and they were gone forever. So much for having a coordinated outfit from head to toe.

Babies don’t need shoes until they start walking. Even if it’s cold out, thick baby socks will do the trick and they won’t come off as easily as shoes do. You can thank me for this nugget of knowledge later.

But perhaps even more important was learning I needed a car seat protector for the baby. Amazing that we’re conditioned to buy shoes our kids may only wear once and lose somewhere between here and Timbuktu yet we never think of the things that are most useful to us.
We had just moved into a new home and I was trying to unload groceries all the while my little son was wailing away. In my scurrying efforts to move things along, I tipped over a bag of oranges and it just escalated from there like dominoes. It was probably very comical to my new neighbor but if she found it funny, she spared me her laughter. Instead, she ran right over and helped me pick up my spilled groceries.

As she leaned into the car, she said, “You don’t have a car seat protector for baby?”

“A what?” I asked, intrigued. What was this thing anyway?

The new neighbor, Denise, explained to me that the car seat protector for baby was a type of padding that went underneath the car seat to keep the backseat in prime condition. I never even considered how the simple, slight shifting of a car seat could damage my backseat.

So once the baby was down for a nap, I looked up the car seat protector for baby. I found one by Smiinky. Even though there were many other brands, I liked the Smiinky one best. It was machine washable, and it extended far enough up the back as well as on the seat to cover the area where the car seat was plus left a little extra room for spills. And speaking of spills, the anti-slip backing was there to keep the car seat in place as well as stop any drips, dribbles or leaps from getting into my backseat. Plus, with all these features, it had pockets at the bottom where I could add baby essentials that I might otherwise forget when I’m in a rush.

The best part was the price. It was a much better value for the quality over other brands. My Smiinky car seat protector for baby is still going strong, even after numerous washings. So now that you know, get a car seat protector for your baby.
