Seat Protectors from Car Seats – the Ultimate Baby Must-Have!

There are so many things marketed to parents for new babies. When I got pregnant with my first son, I honestly felt overwhelmed by all this stuff I supposedly needed. Sure, some things are absolutely essential like diapers whether they’re cloth or disposable diapers and then there are other things like that teepee pee pee thing. Which I only had because it was a gift at my baby shower.

I can tell you that thing really didn’t do anything to help me or my son. Not essential. Neither are those wipe warmers really, but maybe I feel that way because it’s hot where I live. Any parent can get by with the basics like a crib and a car seat. Strollers and baby carriers are your choice depending on where you live but you could function without them.

I think the car seat is the most important baby item of all. Because you can’t take your baby anywhere if you don’t safely secure them in a car seat. I never knew though that car seats could completely ruin my backseat though. With my first son, I still had my old SUV which had upholstery. It was an older vehicle but I remember feeling cheated when I took out the car seat to put into a rental and the rental car lady handing me a seat protector from car seats.

I looked at my seat, all grungy and dented. It would never be the same again. The rental car lady looked at me sympathetically. “Oh no one told you to use seat protectors from car seats?” she asked me. “I didn’t know there was such a thing,” I said to her, dumbfounded.

She slipped it onto the backseat in a matter of seconds and then expertly installed my son’s car seat while I held his wriggling, cooing little body in my arms. She explained that the vehicles in their fleet would look horrible if they didn’t let their customers use seat protectors from car seats.

It was made by Smiinky. After running around all day with the rental, once I had a moment to myself, I looked up seat protectors from car seats and made sure to look up Smiinky’s version of it. While there were lots of choices, I thought the Smiinky one looked the best. I also liked that it was machine washable and had pocket space at the bottom. The price was great too so I ordered it.

It arrived just before I returned my rental and retrieved my car. I brought it with me to the rental place. The same rental car lady was there and as she helped me with the seat, she was happy to see I’d gotten a seat protector for under car seat from car seats too. Now I know the secret for keeping the backseat in good condition, even when you have kids!
