Things You Don’t Think of Until You Need Them – The Car Seat Upholstery Protector
My husband and I tried and tried for years to have kids and then, we hit the jackpot. Triplets. Oh boy. Literally. I had 3 bouncing baby boys all at the same time. I thought I was going to go nuts.
So you think it’s hard to buy everything you need for one new baby. Imagine doing it for 3 of them. Three of everything. It’s crazy. Shopping for car seats? I had triple the worry. I had to find a brand I liked and then get three of them.
I was one of the lucky ones though. As I was researching baby products online, I found an article from a woman who had removed her car seat for one reason or another (I honestly can’t remember what happened, just that she needed to take it out for hot minute) and she discovered her leather seats in the backseat were completely ravaged.
She then talked about a baby product I certainly never would have thought of as I was preparing for my boys’ arrival – a car seat upholstery protector. I don’t have leather seats, but I do have upholstery, and hearing her resounding warning to protect the backseat from those car seats, I knew I had to act on it.
I didn’t know, and apparently neither did this mom or many others, that car seats, even when securely and properly fastened in the backseat, can slide around on the upholstery or leather, wearing it down. And once your little tots start snacking and spilling juice all over the place, you better believe that all trickles down under those car seats, fermenting in the hot sun. Yuck!
She recommended the car seat upholstery protector made by Smiinky so I took a look at it as well as some other models from the competition. I thought maybe I could find a cheaper version, even though the Smiinky was an easy price. I just like to save, you know?
Anyway, as I looked, none of them went up as high on the back part of the seat. Plus Smiinky’s car seat upholstery protector is machine washable and has an anti-slip backing to it to keep that car seat from shifting around during your ordinary driving habits.
The final selling point for me were the pockets at the bottom. I thought of all the neat little things I could put in them to make my life with 3 new baby boys easier from extra diapers to wipes to silly little toys that might keep them entertained.
I ordered three of the car seat upholstery protectors from Smiinky and we’ve been delighted. The boys are bigger now but every time I’ve had to take those car seats out for any reason – once when renting a vehicle, another time when leaving the boys at Grandma and Grandpa’s and so on – my backseat still looked like it did pre-kids. It’s definitely not something you think about. Like I said, I’m lucky I found this out before my sons were born. It’s a great way to keep your car in excellent condition even with lots of kids!
